The brief was to incorporate the Hilton 5-star hotel, conference hall, apartments, parking, office building and exceptional services such as bars, restaurants, and retail outlets in the prominent location of St Julians. Drawing inspiration from the site’s proximity to the sea, the marina became the heart and driving point for the project.

The Hilton Hotel needed to sustain the 5-star quality synonymous with its brand and features a leisure centre, outdoor and indoor pools, speciality restaurants, a beach club and the popular quarterdeck bar. Overlooking the sea and marina, the hotel amalgamates harmony of spaces with natural light creating a very special user experience.

The 300 apartments set around the marina each enjoy sea views across the impressive 110-berth yacht marina and out to sea. A green belt of vegetation around the marina footprint acts as a break that softens the buildings impact whilst also enhancing residents’ views and spatial experience. The accessibility of the sea and views solidified the project as a premier residential area.

The Portomaso Business Tower, clad in extruded ceramic tiles, became a focal point not only for the project but an impressive landmark building for the area. It has gained recognition as one of the most prestigious addresses for office space on the Island.
